1) BACKGROUND
The African Peer Review Mechanism has received financing from the African Development Bank toward funding of the African Peer Review Mechanism Institutional Support Project and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this grant to procure a consultant to carry out a copy editing and Proof-reading consultant to assist the APRM Secretariat in ensuring that every written word in the base questionnaire supports the goals of those writing it and the core mandate of the APRM.
2) OBJECTIVE
The objective of the copy editing, and Proof-reading consultant is to review and edit over 100 pages document for the content and flow. The editor will be responsible for editing the various thematic chapters and narrative sections with a view to ensure clarity and continuity of the argument and governance focus of the questions; clarity of structure and core themes of the questionnaire; internal consistency, both analytical and stylistic. Align Content (Objective, Question, and Indicators) as well as page numbering with body of document. The technical editing and copy-editing will concentrate on flow and clarity of each thematic conceptualization, sequencing, consistency, especially between the various thematic areas, and rectifying content errors, style and punctuation, spelling, and grammar within the base questionnaire. Final copy editing and proofread over100 pages document.
3)DURATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT AND LOCATION
The expected commencement date for the assignment is June 2021 and the duration shall be One (1) Months.
The copy editing and proof reading will be home based (online), and the qualified consultant will not be required to move to South Africa, although they will be required to work virtually and update the supervisor in virtual meetings.
4) ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS
The African Peer Review Mechanism now invites eligible individual consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (description of similar assignments -Copy editing and proof reading), experience in similar conditions -AU or similar organisation, and appropriate skills.
Applicants MUST demonstrate that they have (i) minimum of five years (5) relevant experience; (ii) experience in undertaking and completing similar assignment in at least two institutions or organisations (Provide Proof) (iii) familiarity with the African Union (AU)or APRM mandate. (vi) Master’s degree in Social Science, Language science, Business Administration, Human Resources, Governance, Economics, Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, gender, or related field. A post graduate qualification in M &E and a PhD in any of the above qualifications will be an added advantage. Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
(vii) MUST submit Up-to-date Curriculum Vitae and supporting professional & relevant academic documents and three referees. Only Shortlisted Candidates shall be issued with the Terms of Reference (TORS)
Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank’s “Procurement Policy for Bank Group Funded Operations”, dated October 2015, which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org.
