Consistent with the 2018 APRM and CGA Partnership Accord to create structural designs for Historically Black Colleges Universities (HBCUs) and Diaspora stakeholders to contribute to Africa’s development as per the AU’s historic designation of the Diaspora as the Sixth Region, the conference will merge and apply the collective intellectual capital and resource potential of Africa-Diaspora entities towards the following solution-oriented ideals and implementations:
- Food Security Innovations to Fortify Africa’s Agro-Industry and Food Value Chains
- Formalizing Diaspora Investment and Trade Relations as Tools of Joint Development
- Bridging the Africa-Diaspora Divide through Youth, Media, and Pan-African Initiatives
The conference will convene corresponding panels with systems-approaches to incorporate:
- Applied science and research of the Association of 1890 Research Directors (ARD) which represents “19 Land Grant HBCUs” with premier agricultural, environmental, and livestock specialties, in strategic corroboration with renown African agribusiness researches, practitioners, and government representatives.
- Revenue generating economic designs to aid facilitation of mutual socioeconomic productivity, with considerations to COVID-19, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the role of Diaspora industry partners in unmet sectors of African development.
- Collaborations for convergent media, technology, and digital platforms to link and expand existing communications networks to monetize and advance common Africa-Diaspora interests, with emphasis on youth engagements and the revitalization of attainable Pan African ideals.
Visionary government, academic, institutional and industry leaders will formalize strategic alliances, innovation hubs, and investment models for shared advancements, aimed to exemplify the AU’s Agenda 2063 while furthering APRM processes in demonstration of official Africa-Diaspora cooperation.
APRM is an autonomous agency of the AU, led by CEO Prof. Eddy Maloka that conducts governance assessments to improve African governance through slated recommendations for best practices to accelerate political stability, sustainable development, and continental cooperation.
The CGA is an academic think tank and advocacy institution, led by founding director Prof. Ezrah Aharone, designed to apply interdisciplinary research of HBCUs and resources of Diaspora partners towards enterprising practices for reciprocal benefits and development of Africa and the Diaspora.
