August 26, 2016 – SABC Digital News – Preparation for the 6th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD-VI) is underway ahead of the summit’s official opening on Saturday. Senior ministers from Africa Japan as well the United nations, World Bank and the private sector adopted the Nairobi declaration, a common document that now awaits the adoption by the heads of state at the end of the meeting. Meanwhile, on the sidelines of TICAD VI, Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni told a high level meeting of the Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) that Africa needs more than just democracy and good governance to attain economic and social transformation.
