Ambassador Ashraf Rashed, Vice-Chairperson of the Panel and Lead Panel Member for Tunisia led an Advance Mission to Tunisia on 21-22 May 2015 to discuss with Tunisian authorities progress in the implementation of the APRM.
In the meeting with Prof Touhami Abdouli, Secretary of State in charge of Arab and African Relations, Ambassador Rashed congratulated the government and the people of Tunisia on the successful conduct of presidential and parliamentary elections. He further commended the steps that Tunisia has taken in joining the APRM in January 2013, a mechanism that is African in origin, led by Africans for the promotion of good governance in Africa.
Prof Abdouli reiterated the commitment of Tunisia to the APRM and the keenness to embark on the APRM review process as soon as possible.
During his 2-day visit, Ambassador Rashed is also scheduled to meet the Director General in charge of governance at the council of Ministers, the Minister in charge of relations with constitutional institutions and civil society, the Parliamentary Committee in charge of administrative reforms, governance and anti-corruption as well as the Diplomatic Advisor to The President of the Republic.
