JOHANNESBURG, 17 March 2021: On March 18, the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) will virtually celebrate its 18th anniversary of accomplishments with a program of information and entertainment. The event will take place 3PM – 4:30PM (SAST), 9AM – 10:30AM (EST).
With the theme “Celebrating Arts, Culture, and Heritage,” the event will include Diaspora participation, led by the Center for Global Africa (CGA) at Delaware State University of Diaspora, along with entertainment featuring Goodwill Ambassador Robert “Kool” Bell of the iconic group Kool & The Gang who will debut a new song.
In addition, a new initiative called the African Youth Economic Forum (AYEF) will be launched. AYEF is a collaborative effort by APRM, the Youth Bridge Trust, and Reset Global People as part of African youth and Pan-African institutions proactive contributions towards achievement of Agenda 2063 and 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs).
The forum will take place from the 18th -19th of March 12PM – 3PM (SAST) and 6AM – 9AM (EST) as a pre-event of #APRMDay celebrations (African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM). Both events will be live-streamed across the continent and Diaspora via various media partners, and will highlight an array of speakers and topics.

The APRM is an autonomous, self-monitoring governance instrument that member states of the African Union (AU) voluntarily accede. The APRM was established to identify strengths and challenges in governance and socioeconomic development on the African continent. Since its establishment 40 countries have voluntarily acceded to the APRM’s mandate.
