05 March, Cairo, Egypt – The first meeting of the day was with the Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt H.E Sherif Ismail. The Prime Minister outlined the policy and legislative reforms that Egypt has undergone in the past three years. Also present in the meeting were Minister of Social Solidarity and Finance. The delegation was briefed about the status of the economy and the various social development programmes aimed at alleviating poverty and unemployment.

The review process was dealt with in deeper details, the required budgets for all the stages of the review process, plan of action and harmonization of the NPoA into the Egyptian’s National Development Plan.

The APR Vice-chair also paid a courtesy visit to the Secretary of the League of Arab States H.E Amhed Aboul Gheit.

Professor Gambari met with general members of the media including print and broadcast media. He fielded questions on the APRM review process of Egypt as well as questions on the various meetings with authorities, including the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The Panel Vice-chair also attended dinner hosted by the NGC of Egypt at the Tahrir Diplomatic Club.
