African Peer Review Mechanism Report on Ethiopia has been launched at the National Palace Friday 11 January, 2013.
Hailemariam Desalegn said his country highly values the Report as it would be used as a reference material in designing future plans of the country to improve governance and to address identified deficiencies in the thematic areas studied. The country review mission conducted its study on four thematic issues: Good Governance and Democracy, Economic Governance, Corporate Governance and Socio-economic Development.
He added together with the National Plan of Action that Ethiopia prepared it has a good information base to track progress and chart the road ahead for good governance.The report included the Ethiopian government’s view on some of the issues raised in the Report.He reminded the gathering that Ethiopia joined the APRM out of deep conviction as the peer review is good for Africa as a whole.
Ambassador Ashraf Rashed, Lead Member of the APR Panel of Eminent Persons for Ethiopia, said the launching ceremony marks another significant step forward in the APRM Process in Ethiopia as the Report is an important document that deserves due attention.
