It’s all systems go……Sudan!

1 November 2016, Khartoum, Sudan- The Sudanese Focal Point, Ambassador Dr. Ibrahim Dagash, – Members of the National Governing Council led by Ambassador , the APRM Continental Representatives led by CEO Professor Eddy Maloka and Experts on APRM thematic areas met this morning to finalise details on the roll-out of Sudan’s Country Review Mission. The team further discussed some aspects of the Self-assessment Report which needed clarification before the mission commences.

Sudan’s President H.E Omar Hassan al-Bashir is expected to officially launch the Country’s Review Mission on Wednesday, 02 November 2016.

Lead Panel Member for Sudan and Member of the Panel of Eminent Persons, Ambassador Ashraf Rashed will lead the Country Review Mission to Sudan. The Mission will be composed of African Experts in the four thematic areas of the APRM, members of the APRM Strategic Partners (UNDP, UNECA, ADB, AUC, African Capacity Building Foundation etc, and members of the APRM Secretariat Staff. This Mission is expected to first hold consultations in Khartoun City and later to all Sudan’s five regions namely Kasala (Eastern Region), Medani (central Region), Damar (Northern Region), Elobied (Western Region), and Fashier (Far West).

Sudan voluntarily joined the APRM Family in July 2006. It is the 4th Country this year to undertake its Review Mission, after Chad, Senegal and Kenya which is currently undertaking its 2nd Generation Review. The Country Review Report of Sudan is expected to be presented at the AU Summit of the Heads of State and Government participating in the APRM in January 2017.
