7th November 2018 -Monrovia, Liberia – Monrovia, Liberia. 7th November 2018 – The Chairperson of the Panel of Eminent Persons and Lead Panelist for Liberia, Hon Brigette Mabandla, led a follow-up mission to meet H.E. George Weah, the President of the Republic of Liberia, on the readiness for Peer Review at the APR Forum of Heads of State and Government in January 2019. In his statement, H.E. George Weah reaffirmed his commitment to the APR Process in Liberia and confirmed his attendance to the Peer Review of the First-Generation Country Review Report at the APR Forum of Heads of State and Governments.
The Follow-up mission follows the technical revalidation process on the Liberia Country Review Report, commissioned by H.E. George Weah in April 2018; the revalidation process allowed for the contextualization of the CRR to the new context of the country and further align and reflect the Pro-Poor Agenda for Development and Prosperity (PADP). The incorporation of the PADP is essential to the National Program of Action (NPOA), which is a vital component of the Liberia CRR and similarly feeds into Liberia’s National Development Plan.
Hon. Brigitte Mabandla accompanied by Dr. McBride Nkhalamba, the Lead Coordinator for Liberia and Ms Nonkululeko Masoek met with the APRM Focal Point and Minister of Finance and Developmental Planning Hon. Samuel D. Tweah, Jr on 6th November 2018. This meeting updated Hon. Tweah on the Continental Secretariat and further placed emphasis on the importance of strengthening the APRM National Structures in Libera, which are supported through the Minister’s office.
The Liberia CRR will be tabled at the APR Forum in January 2019, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
