Communication Experts from the AU Organs are attending a 3-day workshop under the African Governance Architecture-Support Project (AGA-SP), Expertise France, in Nairobi to better understand the objectives of the AGA-SP Communication plan and enhance cooperation among them.

This May, the African Union will host two extraordinary summits in Malabo, Equatorial Guiea as follows.

APRM Special Summit – Nairobi, Kenya (21 – 26 August 2016)

WHAT: Media is invited to attend the APRM Special Summit and related APRM meetings in Nairobi, Kenya.

WHO: APR Forum Chair H.E Uhuru Kenyatta, APR Focal Points Chair Hon. Mwangi Kuinjuri, APR Panel Members and Chief Executive Officer of the APRM Secretariat Prof. Eddy Maloka.

DATE: Sunday 21 – Friday 26 August 2016.

WHERE: Inter-Continental Nairobi, Kenya.

BACKGROUND: The APRM Summit was initially scheduled to take place in Kigali, Rwanda on the sidelines of the African Union Summit which took place last month. But a Postponement was necessitated by unavoidable circumstances related to the Heads of State and Government Retreat on AU Financing which coincided with the APRM Summit dates.

The August 2016 APRM Special Summit will focus on the revitalization of the Mechanism and strategic approaches that will see it regain its rightful place as an effective and innovative governance tool for our continent. Recommendations from a special committee tasked to work on the revitalization strategy will be discussed and considered for adoption.

This Special Summit will also discuss Country Review Reports for Djibouti, Chad and Senegal.

Members of the press are therefore advised to send their passport numbers (including Bio Data) and passport photos to [email protected] before 15 August in order to facilitate the accreditation process. Printing of badges will be one at Charter Hall. For APRM statutory meetings badges will be printed at the APRM desk.
