H.E. Ismael Omar Guelleh receives the delegation of the APRM

26th March 2018, Djibouti – The President of the Republic of Djibouti, His Excellency Ismael Omar Guelleh received in audience a delegation from the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM). The delegation led by Prof. Fatima Karadja also included the representative of APRM Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr Rachel Mukamunana, Dr Koffi Adorgloh, Mr. Jean Yves Adou and Mr. Germain Tshinu.

In his introductory statement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf commended the APRM team for their accomplishments. He added that the Djibouti Review Report was “the end result of our joint efforts from the self-review process to the external review carried out by the APRM Mission”. He further stated that the launching of this quality report not only marks the fifth stage of the process, which is that of dissemination, but also paves the way for implementation of the National Programme of Action (NPoA).

In her response, Professor Karadja presented herself as the successor of Honourable Joseph Tsang Mang Kin, erstwhile lead Member of APR Panel of Eminent Persons in charge of Djibouti. She thanked the Head of State for his commitment to the APRM in general and to APRM Djibouti in particular. She also expressed the gratitude of the Panel for the work accomplished by APRM Djibouti. Furthermore, she said she was counting on the charisma and personal commitment of the Head of State to be APRM spokesperson to the other Member States of the African Union which are yet to sign up to the Mechanism.

In his address, the Head of State thanked the APRM head of delegation for the visit and assured her of his continued efforts to support APRM.

The visit at the State house ended with a press briefing by Professor Karadja.
