29 November 2019, Dakar, Senegal – His Excellency Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal, received in audience an APRM Delegation comprising Honourable Khayar Oumar Defallah, Chairperson of the APRM Committee of Focal Points, Dr Ali Abdel Rhamane Haggar, Lead Panel Member for Senegal, Professor Eddy Maloka, Chief Executive Officer of the APRM Continental Secretariat. Also present at the meeting were Mr Malick Sall, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Senegal and APRM Focal Point, Mr Mamadou Saliou Sow, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice and Mr Moustapha Ly, Director for Monitoring and Evaluation of Good Governance Policies and Human Rights at the Ministry of Justice.
Head of the APRM Delegation, Honourable Khayar Oumar Defallah expressed his gratitude to President Mack Sall for his continued support to the Mechanism and his leadership in establishing good governance at all levels in Senegal.
The meeting also seized the opportunity to introduce the new Lead Panel Member for Senegal, Dr Ali Abdel Rhamane Haggar to authorities in the country.
The Focal Point Chairperson further welcomed the proposed date for the official launch of the Country Review Report (CRR) of Senegal in January 2020, something which he said will provide a platform to share best practices with other APRM participating countries.
Responding to the APRM Delegation, His Excellency Macky Sall conveyed his profound gratitude to His Excellency Idriss Deby Itno, current Chairperson of the APR Forum for his leadership during his tenure as Chairperson of the APR Forum of Head of States. After sharing his vision for an integrated continent, he thanked the APRM for supporting his country in its bid to achieve good governance.
The launch is slanted to be on the margins of the APR Panel Meeting that will take place in Dakar, Senegal.
