THE TARGETED REVIEW TEAM SHARES THE PRELIMINARY FINDINGS OF THE MISSION WITH COLONEL MAMADY DOUMBOUYA

In his welcome remarks Dr. Morissanda KOUYATE, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Guineans of the Diaspora, thanked the delegation and indicated that thanks to the foresight of the Head of State, the Government had created the conducive environment for the delegation to carry out the mission without any interference. He then invited Ambassador ALI Hamed Araita to kindly share the findings of the mission.
On behalf of H.E. Dr. Julius Maada BIO, Chairperson of the APR Forum, the APR Panel of Eminent Persons and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the APRM Continental Secretariat, the Lead Panel member expressed his profound gratitude to Colonel Mamadi DOUMBOUYA for his leadership, his openness and, more importantly, his political commitment to the APRM and to good governance. He also thanked the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, development partners, all state and non-state actors as well as the Inter-ministerial Support Committee. According to Amb. Hamed Araita Ali, the preliminary findings are the results of broad consultations undertaken both in Conakry and in the provinces such as Nzérékoré, Kankan and Labé.
In response, the Head of State welcomed the delegation and emphasised that Guinea believes in African solutions to African problems. The Transition has initiated a vast program to rebuild the country through reforms in various sectors. In this process, the Transition will take all necessary measures to guarantee the independence of the judiciary. Furthermore, being a mining country, the country could have developed adequate economic infrastructure. According to the Colonel, Guinea played a key role in the struggle for independence in Africa. In line with Pan-Africanism, Guinea will always show solidarity to African countries whenever necessary. In conclusion, Colonel Mamadi DOUMBOUYA expressed his gratitude to the APRM, whose recommendations will undoubtedly enable the Transition to take decisions aimed at improving Guinea’s governance profile.
