African Peer Review Mechanism is back: CEO

October 16, 2016 – SABC Digital News – “We’re back in force and we’re here to stay”. That’s the clear message being delivered by the CEO of the African Peer Review Mechanism during UN Africa Week in New York. Professor Eddy Maloka, who was appointed to lead the APRM in January after years of the mechanism’s decline, says its proper integration as a specialized Agency of the African Union is now complete as the focus shifts to reviewing states that have joined as members. In a sit-down with SABC News on the sidelines of discussions at the UN, Maloka argued to retain the voluntary nature of APRM membership and for the mechanism to be at the centre of all efforts to strengthen good governance on the continent.
